Rob Tanner recently attended the MIAL Modern Maritime Conference, held in  Sydney 8-10th October. 

The overall theme was 'looking to the past to shape the future' with Australia 2050 headlining the social events.

This was a hugely successful conference, bringing together many professionals from a diverse range of marine fields and nationalities.

IMPA safety Campaign 2019

The IMPA Safety Campaign 2019 is now running

You can access the smartphone/tablet compatible survey via the link http://survey.impahq.org and log into the site using your email address and the universal password ‘ladder’.

If an internet connection is available on the vessel, submissions may be made whilst on board. If there is no internet available a printable form can be used to note details until the data can be input online, when ashore. There are links on the home page of the IMPA website www.impahq.org for both the survey and to download a printable form.

This year for the first time there is the option of reporting on Helicopter “boarding” arrangements. (Under “Means of Transfer” on campaign web page).

IMPA will not include these results in their IMO submission as there are no SOLAS requirements for Helicopters, but they will collate the results separately, and publish them.

AMPI 2019 AGM

Attention  - All Members

Our AGM is coming up on 29^TH  October 2019, to be held at Doltone House, Darling Harbour Sydney, and it is time to nominate your Board Members.

Below is a list of current Board Members:

According to AMPI’s constitution the following Board Members must retire this year:

Captain Neil Farmer

Captain Robert Tanner

Captain Craig Eastaugh

Captain Ben Ranson

Captain Adam Roberts

If the retiring board members wish to re stand on the Board, they must be re-nominated.

To attain demographic representation and according to the constitution the board membership should be:

(i) 5 Directors elected by the marine pilots of Queensland that are Members, consisting of at least one representative from the Great Barrier Reef licensed marine pilots, at least one from a northern port and at least one from Brisbane;

(ii) 3 Directors elected by the marine pilots of Western Australia that are Members, consisting of at least one from Fremantle and at least one from a northern port;

(iii) 2 Directors elected by the marine pilots of New South Wales that are Members, consisting of at least one from Sydney or Port Botany;

(iv) 2 Directors elected by the marine pilots of Victoria and Tasmania that are Members, consisting of at least one from Melbourne; and

(v) 1 Director elected by the marine pilots of South Australia and the Northern Territory that are Members.

Vacancies are:

WA, x 1

NSW, x 2

QLD x 2
