Challenges for the Pilotage Industry in the Age of Big Data
Ravi Nijjer is a Melbourne based consultant with 24 years experience in the area of applying human factors in the maritime domain. This involves developing and conducting BRM courses, independent investigations for the cruise and general shipping industry, proficiency checks for pilots, human factors based safety management systems, reviews of bridge operations on high tech cruise ships, and customised training and solutions. He has published papers and made presentations for industry groups both in Australia and overseas. In recent times he has developed a Port Operations Safety Management System (POSMS) to manage the inherent dynamic risk in marine pilotage. His most recent work involves research into the impact of 'Age of Big Data’ on pilotage and developing a 3rd generation BRM course as a response. |
