The Australasian Marine Pilots Institute is pleased to announce the AMPI Escort Towage Workshop, to be held in Newcastle on 4–5 November 2026.
Hosted at Svitzer Australia Newcastle Simulator, the workshop will bring together marine pilots, tug masters, towage operators and other industry experts to explore the many facets of escort towage operations. The programme will examine topics ranging from risk assessment and operational planning through to the development of procedures, training systems, competency frameworks and industry best practice.
A key feature of the workshop will be access to Svitzer’s recently commissioned Kongsberg simulator, providing delegates with the opportunity to participate in practical escort towage scenarios, facilitated discussions and shared learning exercises in a realistic training environment.
Attendance at the workshop will attract Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points, supporting participants in maintaining and enhancing their professional knowledge and competencies.
AMPI Marine Pilot Members are invited to attend on a complimentary basis. As demand is expected to exceed available places, registrations will be capped at 40 delegates.
To ensure places are utilised effectively and to accommodate a likely waitlist, a $200 no-show fee will apply to registered AMPI members who do not attend (or provide advance notice of non-attendance).
Registration includes lunch on both days together with an evening social function, providing valuable opportunities for professional networking and the exchange of operational experience with colleagues from across the pilotage and towage sectors.
This workshop represents a unique opportunity for industry stakeholders to collaborate, share operational insights and contribute to the ongoing improvement of escort towage safety and effectiveness throughout Australasia.
